Light Edit

• The Light Edit's visual aspect is simple and sleek
• Can be used replacing the Text Fields in a web page by a more semantic and aesthetic control
• Has been developed as a Dreamweaver extension, that fact simplifies insertion and does not require any further web programming knowledge for its use.
• The element is functional inclusive with the Javascript disable in the browser

The only requirement is to have Adobe Dreamweaver MX 2004 or later version (including Dreamweaver CS4, CS5, CS6, CC ...).

To install Light Edit you will need the Adobe Extension Manager, distributed with Dreamweaver. Run "Install" in the Adobe Extension Manager and enter the path to the downloaded .mxp file.

Once installed, the extension can be accessed through the "menu Insert > Mobile Elements > Insert Light Edit"(fig.1) or through the insertion bar "Mobile Elements > Light Edit Insert"(fig.2)

Use

To use Light Edit, open in Dreamweaver the desired web page, place the cursor where you want to insert Light Edit and then click on "Insert Light Edit", either via the Insertion Bar or via the menu. Light Edit displays a setup window described below.

Interface

ID: Enter the ID of the element, this must be unique within the website.

Type: Select the text field type to be inserted.

Access key: Enter a letter that will allow direct access to the button. In Windows it is done by pressing Ctrl + Letter, and in Macintosh, Alt + Letter, when we are in a browser.

Tab index: Enter a number for the tab order.

Remember that at the end, both the website and the folder structure created by the extension should be updated on your web server.

Once inserted an Light Edit on the website, if you want to alter the type of editor to use, select the <SPAN> tag within the class "iphone-edit-mark" which contains the text fields you want to change and modify the type of editor in the Property inspector.
